Monitor Closely. No single style of inflation is right for every dairy due to the variety of teat sizes, vacuum levels, milking equipment and practices. Dairymen should always be watchful for changes in udder health, especially when a different style inflation is installed. should changes occur the inflation may not be compatible with your dairy.
Under theses conditions it is recommended that their use be discontinued immediately!

Inspect Daily. A routine daily inspection should be made to ensure that all inflations and tubing are in good condition. Inflation life varies with conditions on the dairy. The chart below is based on a replacement interval of 1,000 milkings.

Install Correctly. Check alignment frequently. Line marks on tube and head help prevent the inflation from being twisted and assure more efficient performance.

Clean Properly. Use only approved cleaning materials and procedures. Cleaning and sanitizing solutions mixed to excessive strength or left in prolonged contact with inflations will deteriorate the rubber. A dry, rough surface is often an indication of oxidation by chlorine. Use an acid rinse after each wash up. Completely remove all salves, ointments and teat dips from teats prior to attaching the milking units.

Store Wisely. Store inflations away from heat, sunlight and electric motors.

Maintain Your Equipment. Inflation performance is directly related to the operating condition of the entire system. All equipment should be serviced according to manufacturer's maintenance schedules.

Keep Up-To-Date. Dairying knowledge, equipment, supplies and even the dairy cow herself are constantly improving. Some milking systems may have a difficult time handling the output of today's high-producing cows. Each dairy should assure that their special combination of equipment is performing satisfactorily.
